There is much to love about this place, but a few things to hate. First, the good: it is green, the restrooms are clean, great showers, and relatively inexpensive laundry facilities. There are lots of trails meandering throughout the park and just outside of it. Situated on the Port St. Lucie River, near the locks, ideally situated for peaceful relaxing away from the city. But my god—WHY do people come “camping”, drive for hours to get here, then immediately fire up their loud, smelly generators, and spend the entire time holed up in their RV watching tv? If you happen to be unlucky enough to be parked next to someone with a generator (and it’s difficult not to do so, since most sites don’t have power, and people seem to be unable to live any other way than exactly as they do at home), you will hear the incessant rumble of a gasoline engine from early in the am until late at night—and sometimes beyond. The constant noise ruined the whole experience for my husband and me. If you don’t mind constant engine noise, this place is for you. If you enjoy waking up early and listening to birds and being in a natural setting, don’t plan on staying long.

I am adding to this review after staying another week. (It was good location for what we had to do so stayed). Since there is constant turnover, after two of the loudest generators left, the whole atmosphere changed, and we had a lovely experience. We both agree that corralling all campers using generators in one area would help immensely, because without the loud engines, it’s s wonderful camping experience.
